Oil and chemical resistance of polyurethane 2

Oil and chemical resistance of polyurethanePolyurethane elastomer, especially polyester polyurethane elastomer, is a kind of strong polar polymer material. It has little affinity with non-polar mineral oil, and is almost free from erosion in fuel oil (such as kerosene, gasoline) and mechanical oil (such as hydraulic oil, engine oil, lubricating oil, etc.), which is much better than general rubber and can be compared with NBR. However, the swelling is large in alcohols, esters, ketones and aromatics, and it is gradually destroyed at high temperature. In halogenated hydrocarbons, swelling is significant, and sometimes degradation occurs.

Polyurethane elastomer immersed in inorganic solution, if there is no catalyst, is similar to immersed in water. The degradation rate in weak acid and alkali solution is faster than that in water, while the erosion effect of strong acid and alkali on polyurethane is greater.

The service temperature of polyurethane elastomer in oil is below 110 , which is higher than that in air. However, in many engineering applications, oil is always polluted by water. The test shows that as long as the oil contains 0.02% water, almost all water can be transferred to the elastomer, at this time, the use effect will be significantly different.
