Open casting molding polyurethane
Open casting
molding method is the simplest and most commonly used molding method. In this
method, the mixture of prepolymer and chain extender is poured into an open
mold preheated to 80-120°C and coated with a release agent. After normal
pressure vulcanization reaches the strength, it can be demolded and transferred
to the post-vulcanization process.
When pouring, you must be careful not to get air in to
avoid air bubbles in the molding. It is better to use a casting machine.
For products with strict size requirements, the products
need to be cut after molding. Consider the shrinkage of elastomer when
designing the mold. Larger products can also be poured by manual batch method
if skilled. The mold strength requirement of this method is not high, and it
can be processed and manufactured with soft metals such as aluminum, and even
can be processed with reinforced plastics. Polyurethane rubber rollers, rubber
wheels and other products are commonly produced by this method.
