Shanghai Pepsen has been manufacturing polyurethane wheels and rollers for shield tunneling machines since 2010 for China Railway Construction Cooperation. On Dec 8, 2018, the latest shield tunneling machines using PEPSEN polyurethane coated roller/wheels/tires won the second prize in the competition of National Science and Technology Prize for Progress.

Polyurethane coated wheels are the key parts on shield tunneling machines. As shown on photos, 16 wheels support almost all weight of machine weighing about 400-500 tons. Besides, the wheels is not standing straight on ground, they move on a slop with angle about 45 degree. The tough working environment requires strong and reliable bonding between polyurethane and steel. The Germany wheels lasts 50 meters. Before 2010, China Railway Construction Cooperation tried wheels from many China urethane wheel manufacturers , the polyurethane slipped off very quickly , after moving about 20 meters.

In field testing, PU wheels from PEPSEN lasts 200 meters minimum and you can see on photo that they do not slip off, and almost have no tear and damage.

In past 9 year, PEPSEN have delivered over 4500 PU wheels and rollers to China and Singapore bases of China Railway Construction Cooperation.
