Polyurethane Parts for Material Handling Equipment

Cast polyurethane components are used in conveyors, forklifts, cranes, automated handling systems and bulk-material transfer equipment. Properly specified wheels, rollers, guides, buffers and liners can help manage wear, impact, vibration and contact with conveyed products.

Why Use Polyurethane in Material Handling?

– Fatigue and environmental resistance: Formulation, hardness and wheel geometry can be selected for cyclic loading, outdoor exposure and heat build-up. Service life depends on load, speed, duty cycle and operating conditions.

– Controlled rolling behavior: Non-marking compounds, resilience and rolling resistance can be specified for the floor surface, load and operating speed.

– Load and damage resistance: Polyurethane grades can be selected for compression, cut and tear resistance, resilience and repeated impact.

– Temperature and chemical compatibility: Confirm the continuous and peak temperatures, cleaning agents, oils and environmental exposure before selecting a polyurethane system.

Material Handling Applications

– Forklift drive wheels, load wheels, fork sleeves and protective pads

- Conveyor Belt Idler Rollers

Idler rollers support and guide conveyor belts. A cast polyurethane covering can protect the metal core and help manage impact, vibration and contact noise. Specify belt speed, radial load, core dimensions, conveyed material and environmental conditions.

– Conveyor belt guides, wipers and support components

– Guide rails and bars for controlling the direction of products, carriers or equipment on conveyors and storage systems

– Polyurethane buffers and stops for absorbing impact between equipment or during load transfer

– Precision material handling and production lines where cleanliness, marking behavior and dimensional control must be specified

– Robot and automated-system dampers for controlled end stops and impact protection

- Urethan-Schurren/Trichterauskleidungen

Chute and hopper liners protect metal surfaces handling ores, cement, grain and other bulk materials. Liner thickness, hardness, attachment method and surface finish should be selected for particle size, impact angle, moisture, flow behavior and maintenance access.
